WHY ARAA ACADEMY?

The department of Education in DMI St Eugene university established in 2012, offers the degree and masters programmes to young school livers both boys and girls to persues degree and masters level programmes in education sector, Zambia. The university offers degree and masters level in arts and science. To qualify to study in the university, the school liver should obtain five ‘O’ levels in English, mathematics and science.

At bachelor’s level and the beginning of the third and fourth year students are sent to given the opportunity to practice what they had learnt. The department of education motivates and prepares the students to become effective teachers in their major subjects at secondary school levels.

At masters level the students are prepared to become teachers at higher level. To become leaders in the classroom improve their teaching and take their carrier in education to the next level. At masters level course aims at providing basic principles of psychology which includes meaning, nature, growth, development, individual difference, different stages of development, motivation, intelligence, theories of learning, memory, forgetting, transfer of learning. The student teacher can act according to individual differences and intelligence of the students.

A Master of education is geared more toward initial teacher’s licensure and focuses on practical classroom skill and teaching specific subjects. A master in education on the other hand is for experience educators and provides more in depth instruction designed to prepare teachers for new leadership roles

The Department of Management Studies and Commerce at DMI University, Zambia was established in 2008 with the aim of “Imparting quality education in Commerce and Management for Higher Education and Career Entry, develop personality and qualities of good business leadership.

At the bachelor level, the department of Management Studies and Commerce prepares students for higher studies and career entry. The aim of the BBA and B.Com program is to provide sound training in leadership, co-operation, team spirit, tolerance, motivation and counselling to the students.

At the bachelor level, master’s level and doctoral level, the department of Management Studies and Commerce prepare students for leadership roles in a wide range of fields.

The Industrial visits is one of the key component in Management studies and Commerce curriculum at all levels, which provides industrial exposure and knowledge to the students. The students of undergraduate programme spend 8 weeks for Industrial Practical trainings (IPTR) in the third year and doing projects during the final year of their study.

The Department of Social Work at DMI University, Zambia was established in 2008 with the aim of “educating students to understand the diversity of communities, to advocate for marginalized populations, and to respond to human needs, social justice and human rights issues with dedication, depth of knowledge, and ethically sound practice skills in order to fulfill the profession’s goals of a just society for all”.

The department of Social Work strives to instill this aim to its students, by fostering their intellectual, emotional and spiritual growth so that they are committed and prepared to live a life that is dedicated to service to others. This aim is articulated at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral program levels offered in the department.

At the bachelor level, the department of Social Work prepares students for generalist social work practice. The aim of the BSW program is to prepare students for entrance into the social work profession as beginning level generalists in social work practice in a variety of settings such as Community development, Human Resource Management and Medical and Psychiatric.

At the Master’s level, the department of Social Work prepares students for leadership roles in a wide range of settings. MSW graduates are prepared for both community / clinical practice with individuals, families and small groups or for organizational and community leadership and development.

At the Doctoral level, the department of Social Work prepares social advocacy planner / clinical social workers through scholarly practice for leadership roles in the research, academic and practice communities. The School of Social Work also offers post-master’s certificate / diploma programs that are designed to provide expertise in particular areas of specialization and for professional continuing education.

The Outreach programme is one of key component in social work curriculum at all levels. The students of undergraduate programme spend 6 weeks for Concurrent Field work (CFW) and 8 weeks for Industrial Practical trainings (IPTR). The master students spend 4 weeks for CFW and a semester for project work. As part of the outreach programme, the students concentrate on the selected themes such as Health and Sanitation, Women Empowerment, Need of Elderly andphysically challenged, Participation of Children & Youth, Environment & Agriculture and Community Development.

The DMI-St. Eugene University School of Health Sciences is recognized locally and internationally for its excellence in educating and training health care professionals at international standards. It is affiliated to and registered with the Higher Education Authority (HEA), Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ), Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ), TEVETA, and other relevant professional bodies.

The school is committed to ensuring that our graduates are competent, responsible, passionate and holistic healthcare professionals. The School offers learners a preferred experience; innovative methods of training with a focus on problem-based education complemented by appropriate facilities including our state-of-the-art teaching venues, skills training laboratories, ICT facilities and, physical and online library access. The Research Department of the School of Health Science helps the students and faculty to acquire research skills through various projects, case studies, scientific surveys, laboratory experiments, field research, community service, etc. This enhances the capacity building of students and faculty members in research and publication.
